The Next Step

In the fall of last year, 2011, Ryan and I really started having "the talk".  What is the talk exactly?  We actually started discussing our future and when we would like to start our own little family.  I always thought we would be married somewhere around 5 years before expanding the family.  Everyone has different theories and everyone has different situations, but this was how I saw it.  I thought 5 years would give Ryan and I plenty of time to be all about "us" before being all about "them."  We wanted time to do things just us. We wanted time to just pick up and leave and go somewhere fun, which we did alot.  We had heard from many people that there is never a perfect time and there will always be things that may get in the way.  Of course being the planner that I am, we thought all of those things through and yes, there are still plenty of places we want to go and people we want to see.  But together, we decided we were ready and everything else could wait awhile longer.  Together, we decided we would start trying and see what happened.  Together, we prayed.

In April we'll be married 4 years.  In August we will welcome our first child.  We are both absolutely elated!  The timing (for us) seems perfect.  It just really feels like everything fell perfectly into place.  When we were discussing having children last year I told Ryan I would love to have one early fall (yes, I realize it isn't that easy, but one can dream, right?).  Why fall?  Well, our anniversary is in April.  Ryan's birthday is in May and my birthday is in June.  So it seems as though in our little family, we needed something later in the year to celebrate.  The little babe is due August 20th.  Perfect!

So we ask that you please pray for our family as we transition into something wonderful, the next step.  Everyone tells us it will change our life forever (for the better of course).  We welcome that and can't wait to experience and cherish every moment.

PS - Yes, I realize it has been exactly one month since I have posted.  This whole pregnancy thing hasn't been real fun thus far, but I'm hoping I'm on the up and up and therefore my blogging will be better. So I'm hopeful...until then...

  1. I'm so happy for you all! Pregnancy starts out rough but the real fun begins the moment you feel that flutter sensation. I remember driving into Waynesboro to eat dinner with R when I felt that movement. I started tearing up and looked over to him. He thought something bad had happened but when I told him I felt our baby move, he teared up as well and we just got a goofy smile on our faces. Pregnancy was really fun (until close to due date b/c I was so uncomfortable) but motherhood is so much more fun and will teach you things that you never thought about before! I am praying that your pregnancy remains beautiful and I know your Granny is beaming from the Heaven's above! =)
