10 Years Of American Idols

I can't believe American Idol has been on the air for 10 years.  That's really hard to believe.  The first season started in June 2002 and ended in September 2002 when I was just a sophomore in college.  I didn't watch the first season until the last episode when Kelly Clarkson beat out Justin Guarini.  Since then, I have watched every show, every season.  I got to thinking last night as the finale was going off, "How many seasons has this show been on?" and "Who was my favorite winner of all time?"  So tonight I did some research...

I'd have to say my all-time favorite American Idol winner is hands down Carrie Underwood.  I'm pretty sure I read that her and Kelly Clarkson are also the most successful idols since the show.  No surprise there.  This year's winner, Phil Phillips, just might be my next favorite idol of all-time.  We'll have to see where he takes his talent from here, but I can definitely see him being a huge success if he wants to be.

We already know they will be audtioning this summer for season 12.  How long will this show possibly last?  Especially now with new, similar shows coming onto the scene like X-Factor and The Voice.  I don't watch either only because I feel like my loyalty belongs to AI. :)  I can't turn on them now!  But in my opinion I think Idol has to atleast make it to 15 seasons, then maybe it'll be time.  Time to put the baby to rest.  Time to say goodbye.  Time to go out with a bang!  Because we all know you want to go out before you start to go downhill and go out when you've hit your peak (easily said)!  Only time will tell, but until then...I'll keep tuning in every January to May to watch the madness.  I sure hope you do, too!

Who is your all-time favorite American Idol?!
