Christmas Shoes

This year was the year of shoes.  Everyone knows that sweet "Christmas Shoes" song that is all over the radio around Christmas time, right?  I know you do.  I think the first time I ever heard it, I cried.  Such a sap!

Well as soon as I took this picture, that's what I thought of for some reason:

So one of the pairs of shoes I got this year for Christmas were TOMS.  Not only do I really like the look and comfort of TOMS, they even have a superb concept.

"With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need.
One for One."

How can you not love that?!

So this year my Mother-in-law got me the burlap pair that I've been looking at for awhile now.  I bought a pair for my 2 year old niece last year, but I still had never bought myself a pair.  Now I have a feeling I'll own several pairs before long.  Pretty much loving them. :)

Ryan has been talking about the Tom Brady Ugg slipper commercial for some time now.  I put a bug in my Mom's ear and lucky for him, he got his wish!  He knew Ugg was a well known name brand and he knew they were known for comfort so he thought he needed a pair.  He is ALL about comfort. He could honestly care less about name brand.  But I guess sometimes for real comfort, you have to pay for a name brand.  Truth hurts!

Mom ended up getting him the Byron (Chestnut) and he has not taken them off since he got them.  No lie.  Well except for work of course.  He even wore them to church!  He told me just yesterday, "I'm going to wear these every day so if they last a year, they were worth the money.  I mean, I never wear shoes or socks around the house and I've been wearing these every day.  Even my feet don't sweat at all in them!"  Hmmm, maybe he should do the next commercial for them!

Last Christmas I got my first pair of Frye boots.  And so began the obsession.  I'm very aware that these boots are not cheap. But I've also heard they last forever and therefore are "an investment", not just a boot.  I have a friend whose mother still wears her Frye boots (that she got in college!).  Now that's impressive.

Last year Ryan got me the Harness boots.  This year he got me the Melissa Trapunto boots.  My aunt has the Trapuntos (in a different color) and after seeing hers, I fell in love and decided being a copy cat was necessary.  I knew I wanted a gray color and these were perfect!  Bless my husband's heart, he tried picking out a pair himself and asked others (i.e. my sister in law) who was honest with him and said, "Well I think she likes these alot." (Not the pair he was looking at himself!)  What would I do without her?!

So there ya have it.  A "Christmas Shoes" kind of Christmas.  Sometimes I truly believe it's better to save up and buy the nice pair of shoes as opposed to the cheap kind that you have to buy 15 of to have them last.  That's my opinion anyway. ;)  What's your thoughts?

By the way, what were some of your favorite Christmas gifts this year?  Care to share?
