Perfect Weekend

This past weekend was one of those perfect ones.  The kind of weekend that you needed so badly. The kind of weekend that left you feeling refreshed.  You now...just the perfect weekend.

One of my good friends, Heather, got married this past weekend at Cross Keys Vineyard.  I met Heather in 6th grade and we became pretty close friends the following year, in 7th grade.  Once we graduated from high school, she asked me if I wanted to room with her at Virginia Tech.  Then we lived together all 4 years at VT.  It's always been special that we've had not only the middle school/high school connection, but also the college connection.  The Fort Defiance and the Blacksburg connection.

So to say I was excited about her wedding this weekend, is an understatement. I couldn't wait to be in one place with all my best friends from high school (minus a few Lee High gals) and also my best friends from college celebrating Heather and Obie.  It was bound to be perfect.

And it was.  We had a blast!  We danced until they kicked us out and we laughed into the wee hours of the morning.

Now officially my 4 best girlfriends from high school have found their soul mates and we have completed an amazing "Husbands Club":

And then there were my VT girls:

Missing our Los Angeles girl, Angie!

Obie is a sweetheart and Heather found a great one, as have all of my friends and I feel so blessed to now have been a part of 7 amazing weddings (with 1 more still to go!) :).

Their wedding was Friday night so we had all day Saturday to make plans and enjoy the beautiful weather.  We had already planned to do a birthday lunch with Ryan's Mom's side of the family for his Grandmother's birthday, so after a relaxing morning with our overnight houseguests, we did that.  Then we headed to pick up our friends, Weston & Elizabeth, to enjoy a Saturday afternoon/evening with them.

And a beautiful Saturday it was!  We decided to head to Veritas Vineyard & Winery for a wine tasting.  That place was packed!  Who would've thought?  Beautiful day.  Beautiful place.  Great wine.  Ok, yeah, that explains it.  Even packed, it didn't take us long to do the tasting and once we finished, we bought a bottle of wine and enjoyed it outside at one of their picnic tables.  From there we headed to Blue Mountain Brewery for dinner.  We were able to eat outside there and I have to say, I loved that place.  We loved that place.  It was the first time we had gone and it will definitely not be the last.  The beer was great (Rockfish Wheat for me), the food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect.  We can't wait to go back!

We topped off our weekend on Sunday with church, buying a lawn mower and more family time.  It's weekends like these that really rejuvenate me and excite me for the couple of warmer months to come.
