On Tuesday, May 14th we left for a 5 night vacation in the beautiful Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We had decided (pre-Stella) that we were definitely going to take a 5 year anniversary trip. We hadn't taken any vacations together (more than a long weekend) since our honeymoon. So being the planner that I am, we started saving money and started talking with a travel agent.
She gave us a couple of options in our price range and since we had already been to Cozumel, Mexico for our honeymoon, we thought we'd like to try somewhere different. Somewhere in the midst of our planning we told our good friends, Weston & Elizabeth, about our plans. Their 3 year anniversary is at the end of the month so they decided to tag along, too. They are such wonderful friends to us so we were really excited they decided to join. We had such a good time being with them!
I knew it was going to be difficult to leave our sweet gal, but I also knew we could really use this vacation. Ryan had not had a vacation in 2.5 years because of a job change so more than anything, he really deserved a break. To be completely honest, leaving her behind was the hardest part. I definitely shed some serious tears when we dropped her off at my parents but once I got that out, I was ok. I made it without crying any more until the night before we left. Thankfully our parents did a fantastic job of sending us pictures by email and keeping us up to date on everything she was doing. I'm pretty sure if that hadn't had happened, I would've had some major breakdowns. Thank you Granny & Nana!!
It was a long, full day of traveling but arriving at the Colonial Majestic made it well worth the long day. We decided on an all-inclusive resort because we had enjoyed that so much on our honeymoon. Having everything paid for before you arrive really is the way to go!

Now it's time to start planning for our 10 year anniversary trip! :) It's really hard to imagine what life will be like by then, but I can't wait to find out (sllllooooowly that is).

Beautiful pics and looks like y'all did survive a trip minus little S!!!! I yearn for the day that Ryan and I can take a good, long vacation (we, too, haven't had one since our honeymoon- especially since Ryan is on hourly pay and gets zero benefits. Maybe one day we can get together and while our little gals play, you can give me some inside times on how to plan and save for a trip like you all were able to enjoy! =)
