We had an amazing Memorial Day weekend.
Speaking of, I can't go without saying thank you to all the men and woman who serve(d) our country. You are very much appreciated.
As for what we ended up doing this weekend...Saturday we spent the day at Massanutten for the Valley Fest Beer & Wine Festival. There were lots of people, wine, Jack Brown's, and great music so in other words, lots of my favorites things all in one place! :) The Hackens Boys & Carbon Leaf were the two bands to perform, which are both great bands. There were also vendors selling all sorts of things from jewelry to dog collars.
On Sunday while Ryan played golf I had a "girls day." We went out for sushi at Massaki and then went to the Dixie to see Bridesmaids. It was a great movie. Absolutely hilarious and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. I found myself several times doing the clap laugh...you know...the kind where you're laughing so hard you kinda lean up & clap. Well, if you don't....that's my explanation. But atleast I didn't break out the snort, haha! ;) We topped off Sunday with my mom's side of the family for our weekly get together at the river.
Today Ryan had to work. Boooo! But since he worked, I got a lot done! Yesterday I realized time is quickly approaching for my vacation to San Diego. Meaning I leave in TWO DAYS. Ahhhhh. Stressed? Just a little. I had a lot on my to do list and it kept growing as the morning progressed. Yikes.
But as I sit here now writing this blog I feel pretty good about everything I got accomplished. First of all, all the clothes, towels and sheets in our house are clean. That always makes me feel awesome. Silly, but true. Secondly, I treated myself to a pedicure AND a manicure (something I don't do often). I went to a new place, Holly Nails, and was very impressed. When I got back home, I cooked several things for Ryan and put them in the freezer for him to make while I'm gone. Now while I know he doesn't need me to cook for him, I still knew he would appreciate me doing it, too. He works long, hard hours during the week so it was the least I could do. I also went grocery shopping and got him some of his favorite things (including Pepsi and I never buy soda!). Lastly, I was able to make cookies today for our neighbors. They are such nice people and on several occassions have brought over yummy treats; strawberries, chicken salad and peanut butter pie to name a few. At one point they mentioned liking peanut butter and oatmeal raisin cookies so the light bulb went off. These are not Ryan nor my favorite kind of cookie so this was my first attempt at making them, but I did and it was a success! Learn something new every day. :)
In the midst of all that craziness today, I was still able to make dinner and have it ready when Ryan got home from work. Yes! Any more he usually beats me home and starts dinner so it was nice to have the day off so I could change that. After dinner we went to visit his family for a few hours. Sitting around the pool chatting about the weekend was the perfect ending to my day off and Memorial Day weekend.
Now what have I not accomplished?! Packing! I haven't packed a single thing yet. That was the only thing on my to do list that didn't get done. Tomorrow night is the only night I have left for this. I'd do it now, but Ryan is sleeping and it would be pretty rude to be doing that while he's trying to sleep. Talk about rubbing salt on the wound! Ahhhh, so wish me luck that I get everything done tomorrow night and don't feel un-prepared on Wednesday when I head to work. But who are we kidding? A bathing suit...some sundresses...sunglasses...flip flops...what else do I need for the West Coast?! Is it Wed yet?!?
